Second Opinion UK is a platform to enable patients to access second opinion from specialist doctors practicing in UK.
Second opinions could be useful for various reasons. A discussion with a reputed consultant may help to confirm the diagnosis and treatment options. It might be reassuring, that the treatment suggested by your local doctor is the same treatment that expert in UK would recommend. It may give you confidence in undergoing that treatment option. Or else, it may arm you with more information to choose a different treatment option locally.
Second Opinion UK will give you access to experienced specialist in UK. The expert will be able to discuss your condition, the natural history of that condition, treatment options with their potential risks and benefits. If surgery has been recommended, this opinion may help in discussing both non operative and operative options.
We are starting this service with Mr Anant Kamat, Consultant Neurosurgeon in England, with special interest in complex spine surgery. He is a Gold Medalist in Neurosurgery from University of Mumbai and trained in UK with FRCS Neurosurgery from Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has Spine fellowships from Australia and England and has Research Scholarship from Yale University, Connecticut, USA.
He states that 'spine surgery has its limitations and risks. It should be offered judiciously and for right reasons.'
We wish you the best and hope this platform helps you to take the right decision for yourself.

We have the pleasure of having Mr Kamat on our panel. He is Gold medalist from University of Mumbai in M.Ch. Neurosurgery. He has prestigious spine fellowships from Australia and UK to his credit. He has Research Scholarship in Yale University, Connecticut, USA.
In addition to training in India, he was also trained in UK and is FRCS Neurosurgery from England.
He is Consultant Neurosurgeon in England, specialising in complex spine surgery and has extensive experience in this field.
He states 'I can understand the dilemma a patient faces while making decisions regarding spine surgery. These are difficult decisions. It is not unusual that in certain spine conditions, the natural history is to improve with time. And hence surgery may not be necessary."
"We have to weigh the risk of any surgical intervention against the potential benefits while making any decision for surgery. I will be very happy to provide the necessary information to help make the right decision which suits them the best. It is important to understand that this will be opinion only and the treatment will be provided by their local spine surgeon."
"Over the years, I have had frequent enquiries asking for my opinion. I am pleased that this platform will allow me to provide such an opinion."
